After the first flush of tea, it’s time for the bancha harvest.
Demand for Kyoto tea has been growing this year, and many tea farmers are harvesting a second flush. However, here at Kyoto Sōen, we’ve decided to finish our harvesting early, giving the tea plants a chance to rest and refresh themselves.

We’ve also spread fertilizer to help nourish the plants after the harvest, so we’re sure they’ll be in great shape when the first flush comes around again next year. ♫
The shape of the tea bushes is gradually getting closer to what we’ve envisioned, which makes the work even more enjoyable.
One of the greatest joys of farming is being able to look a year ahead and take pleasure in shaping things for the future.
With our eyes on the year ahead, we’ll do our best to get through another summer in good health and high spirits!
