Hello everyone! This is Kyoto Sōen.
After two straight days of rain, we were finally blessed with a beautiful, refreshing sunny day!
This photo shows our tea fields enjoying a break in the clouds.

Surrounded by the lush mountains of Wazuka, the tea fields look like a beautiful green carpet.
But if you look closely, you’ll spot lush weeds growing between the tea plants… Yes, that time of year has come around again.
It’s a familiar sight in tea fields during summer—or, to put it another way, for us it’s our annual battle against summer! (We say this every year, haha.)
This particular tea field is one we’ve only started managing in earnest this year, including its fertilizer and nutrient management. We’re still learning the ins and outs of caring for it.
To help this new tea field grow strong and healthy, we carefully remove the weeds and make sure the tea plants get the nutrients they need.
These little but important efforts are essential to producing the highest-quality tea in Kyoto.
Managing the field is hard work, but it’s also a chance to connect with the rich natural environment around us and experience the joy of growing tea.
With gratitude for the environment that sustains us, we’ll continue working closely with the soil and tea plants, one step at a time, so we can bring you delicious tea again next year.
We hope you’ll keep an eye on how this tea field grows. We’ll be sharing more updates with you regularly!
