The End of the Tea Season — and Looking Ahead to Next Year

Little by little, the tea season has come to an end, and these days many tea gardens have already begun preparing for next year.

Taking into account the height and width of the tea bushes’ framework for the coming season, we tidy up the fields with trimming and bancha harvesting to get everything in shape.

If we wait too long, the work turns into a battle against the intense summer sun — but there’s no need to be overly nervous. We try to stay natural and relaxed.

That’s the mindset of agriculture: coexisting with nature.

Now then — this tea field above is all cleaned up, so on to the next one…

Wait…!
Can anyone actually recognize this as a tea field? (lol) (sweat)

This is a tea garden still under development and not harvested this year. Thanks to the explosive growth of summer weeds, things have gotten a bit wild.

After clearing the weeds and doing a bancha trim, the shape of the tea field finally starts to appear. I’m hoping we can harvest from this one next year.

It was another scorching hot day — but step by step, things are improving and expanding.
Let’s keep at it!
